Do you accept payment through private medical insurance companies?
Although we do not officially work with any private insurance companies, some insurance companies will accept claims from yourself, if you feel you have a relevant or valid reason to use us. Such reasons may include some of the following, as an example :
- None of the providers offered by the insurance company are willing to help
- The waiting time offered by the providers list of Psychiatrists is too long or unreasonable
- The distance from your home to the offered providers is unreasonable/ too far
- You believe our speciality is something not available from their list of providers
- Some policies actually let you choose a doctor of your choice
Always seek guidance form your insurance provider and get an agreement in place first before committing financially
Can you prescribe medication after a diagnosis?
Many companies provide diagnosis through non medics and therefore can not prescribe, even after a diagnosis is made. Dr. Eskander is a Consultant Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist and can therefore prescribe medications if needed
Can I go back to the NHS after a diagnosis?
Yes you can, you are completely free to come and go between private care and NHS care
Do I need a referral letter to see you?
No you do not need any referral letters.
Can you bring my appointment forward if someone cancels an appointment?
Once booked in for an appointment, we will always try to bring it forward whenever an opportunity arises, for example due to someone else cancelling. Due to the high demand of patients wishing to be seen as soon as possible, we operate a similar system to the NHS where priority is given for a number of variables such as
- Medical urgency / Need.- those we consider in most need will be prioritised
- Readiness – Have all the tasks, questionnaires, been completed
- Payment – Have final payments been made or has the person indicated that they’re able or willing to pay earlier than planned.
Do you offer Emergency appointments?
Yes we do but these are not scheduled appointment slots and happen outside of regular hours and are therefore charged at a higher rate. Please contact us if you would like more information about this. These appointments are for people who wish to be seen quicker and not for people who are in actual danger of harm and in need of urgent medical attention. Such patients should use their nearest Accident And Emergency department or call 111 for advice.
Do I have to stay with you forever to get my medication?
We aim to transfer all patient’s prescriptions for medication back to the NHS (GP) once appropriate. Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and the medications used are highly specialised. GP’s want to see that a patient is safe and stable on a medication before taking over. Once stability is achieved, we apply to the GP to take over prescriptions (Most GP’s are happy to do this but not all) , you may still be asked for a checkup with us every now and then, particularly in the case of an ADHD diagnosis.
Can I use your services while I’m on a CAMHS waiting list?
Yes you can, this does not affect your position on the waiting list
Do you offer therapy sessions?
Whilst in theory we can do this, it is more suitable and cost effective to seek the services of an actual therapist, rather than a Psychiatrist. We have a range of contacts that we use and can point you towards, if we believe it would be of benefit to you.
What happens if I change my mind or want to cancel an appointment?
We understand that circumstances change and are therefore happy to offer a full 100% refund if you wish to cancel, unless cancelling within 48 hours of any initial assessment or follow up appointment. If cancelling within 48 hours, we offer a 75% refund.
For ADHD assessments, any costs that have been incurred, as set out below, will be deducted, unless moving to an alternative appointment. This is in addition to the above refund policy.
Conners Assessment Questionnaires Cost Deducted : £100 / Qb Check Cost Deducted £150
If for any reason you need to cancel or move your appointment, before the day of the actual appointment, then please let us know as soon as you can and we’ll do our best to help.
Do you offer online appointments?
We strongly recommend that you have a face to face appointment especially for your initial appointment but yes we can and do offer online appointments if needed.
Why should I choose a Psychiatrist as opposed to another health care professional?
A psychiatrist is a medical doctor. Dr, Eskander is also a Consultant Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist meaning she has vast and specialist experience with this age group. When you chose a doctor you are not only getting an opinion of mental health but also someone who understands the broader field of medicine and is able to spot multiple other factors going on, not just focusing on one diagnosis. In addition she is able to handle both the diagnosis and treatment through medication if needed.
When do you have available appointments?
We try and see everyone as soon as possible but we are heavily booked at the moment. Go to our “Contact Us” page via the menu above for details of current availability, we update this every few weeks so it may not be an exact answer but does give a good indication
